Homemade Pizza Sticks- Super Easy

Kids love pizza! Let’s face it, we all love pizza. It’s always funner when you make it yourself. Even better when your kids can help. I’ve said this before, but kids tend to eat so much better when they had a hand in making it. I’m not saying this is a “healthy” recipe, more of a Friday night meal. This is a start to get the kids in the kitchen and get comfortable helping out with meals. If you have picky kids, like me, use this recipe as a jumping off point to get them to try new things. Soon, they will be wanting to cook more and more with you and trying different ingredients-like veggies perhaps! Gasp!!!

But…. I digress! Let me get to this super easy, kid friendly recipe that your whole family will love!! We only made one version in this recipe, but you can add anything to make it a more extravagant meal. Add cut up onions, peppers, olives, mushrooms….anything you would put on a pizza. Just be careful not to overload it too much. For this recipe, I am using my waffle and french toast maker. If you don’t have one, Amazon has some great options. However, any waffle maker will do nicely. Making them look like waffles also makes them funner to eat! Also, if you make a large batch, you can freeze them and pull them out for an easy lunch.

This recipe would also be great for snacks or easy food for a party!

I didn’t use the pie crust, wanted to try both but the pizza crust made plenty!

Start with gathering ingredients. I bought both pizza crust and pie crust to try both. The pizza crust made plenty for the kids, so did not get to the pie crust-next time! As I said, anything you would like on a pizza would be great. You could even do a white sauce.

Start heating up the waffle maker. Roll the pizza dough out (good job for the kids).

I cut one roll of dough into four equal pieces. Lay one down on the heated waffle iron. You have to work the dough equally over the iron and flatten it out quickly before it start cooking. No need to spray oil on the griddle.

see proper ingredient lay out below

Once you have dough positioned so that when you close the iron, it will seal the sides, so filling won’t seep out (I made this mistake the first time- BIG MESS). Top dough with toppings in this order! I repeat this order! Cheese, pepperoni, (whatever added topping), sauce and more cheese. The reason for this is, if you put sauce directly on dough it can get soggy and not get crusty. Lay another layer of dough on top. Close up waffle iron. Let cook for 7-8 minutes.

Ta-Da! Sooo easy! Cut into sticks and dip into sauce
